Our Past Works
Friends of Mad River are proud to have completed several environmental projects in and around the Mad River with many more planned.
These include several tree plantings over the last five years in which FOMR has planted thousands of trees and shrubs to stabilise rivers banks and provide shade to keep the river cool and protect fish and invertebrate species from warming climate conditions.
Additionally FOMR has undertaken three major habitat restoration projects which have been completed over the last three seasons. Two years were spent stabilising an eroding bank at an important community access point to the river and a third project recently finished where a side channel was installed in Carruthers Memorial Park to mitigate high water events and create new wetland habitat.
